Soirée aux chandelles

A night out of time and history

Since 1980, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte proposes to the visitors a dreamlike and unique experience: the candlelit visit of the château and its gardens! Rediscover the 33 hectares of formal gardens created by André Le Nôtre, the marvellous architecture of Louis Le Vau and Charles Le Brun’s sumptuous paintings by the flickering lights of 2 000 candles…*

First château to propose candlelit visits, Vaux-le-Vicomte invites you to a night out of time and history, to recapture the magic of the famous party of August 17, 1661. A gold and silver firework lights up every evening!

* For safety reasons and to protect the monument, the natural lightening is sometimes recreated with artificial candles inside the château.

The team’s tip: stay in the garden after the fireworks to avoid the departure crowd!

A romantic moment to share

Over a fine dinner at the Charmilles restaurant, overlooking the enlightened château and formal gardens, for a simpler meal at the Relais de l’Ecureuil or quietly installed at the Songe de Vaux with a champagne glass and macaroons listening to baroque music ; each visitor will enjoy magical moments, contemplating the harmony of a complete work of art of the 17th century.

(Caution : after the fireworks, you may anticipate 20 minutes walking from the Water Mirror to the parking lot to take the 11.30 shuttle to Paris Gare de Lyon)
