Our candlelit evenings are over for 2021; they will start again on May 14, 2022!
Booking a timeslot online is mandatory to visit the château.
A night out of time and history
Since 1980, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte proposes to the visitors a dreamlike and unique experience: the candlelit visit of the château and its gardens! Rediscover the 33 hectares of formal gardens created by André Le Nôtre, the marvellous architecture of Louis Le Vau and Charles Le Brun’s sumptuous paintings by the flickering lights of 2 000 candles…*
First château to propose candlelit visits, Vaux-le-Vicomte invites you to a night out of time and history, to recapture the magic of the famous party of August 17, 1661.
* For safety reasons and to protect the monument, the natural lightening is sometimes recreated with artificial candles inside the château.
Water show: the fountains of the garden will be turned on during every candlelit evening, during 1h30 at sunset!
A new firework!
To honour the 400th anniversary of Jean de La Fontaine, Fouquet’s loyal friend, the estate produces a new show which will end every candlelit evening: a set of pyrotechnic scenes recounting the August 17, 1661 party thanks to the letter written by La Fontaine to his friend Maucroix!
For the occasion, André Dussollier, the famous French actor, gives his voice to Jean de La Fontaine, to transport the visitor 360 years ago, during this famous and lavish evening…
A romantic moment to share
Over a fine dinner at the Charmilles restaurant, overlooking the enlightened château and formal gardens, for a simpler meal at the Relais de l’Ecureuil or quietly installed at the Songe de Vaux with a champagne glass and macaroons listening to baroque music ; each visitor enjoys magical moments, contemplating the harmony of a complete work of art of the 17th century.
Privatisation of the dôme with champagne! [FULL]
Culminating at more than 25 meters above the ground and providing a 360° breath-taking view over the estate, the dôme offers an exceptional sight. For the first time, during Saturday candlelit evenings, privatize this area for a romantic dinner for two or a magical moment at candle light, during the firework, accompagnied by champagne served by a maître d’hôtel.
