On Saturday 26 September 2026, Vaux-le-Vicomte celebrates the final Candlelit Evening of the season with an exceptional and festive edition. To bring the summer to a spectacular close, the château and its formal French garden will be transformed for one unforgettable evening: a chic guinguette, open-air DJ sets, illuminated stilt walkers, 2,000 candles and a spectacular firework display will all be part of the experience.

Following the exceptional evenings on 13 July and 15 August, the guinguette atmosphere returns to Vaux-le-Vicomte for one final time!

A unique evening near Paris not to be missed, offering one last chance to experience the magic of the Candlelit Evenings and keep the celebrations going until 1 am.

A festive final Candlelit Evening at Vaux-le-Vicomte

From 6 pm, soak up the convivial atmosphere of the Vaux-le-Vicomte guinguette, set up in the heart of the estate.

In the exceptional setting of the château and its formal French garden, enjoy a lounge music programme as you stroll around, share a drink with friends or family and admire the last rays of sunlight over the parterres designed by André Le Nôtre.

As night falls, the atmosphere shifts up a gear. Two open-air DJ sets will bring the estate to life and invite visitors to dance beneath the stars, with the illuminated château as a spectacular backdrop.

For this final date of the season, the Candlelit Evening will exceptionally continue until 1 am.

2,000 candles illuminating the château and garden

This is the iconic spectacle of summer evenings at Vaux-le-Vicomte: as night falls, 2,000 candles are lit throughout the château and formal French garden.

Le Nôtre’s sweeping perspectives, fountains, water features and the château’s façade are revealed in an entirely new light.

For this exceptional evening on 26 September, illuminated stilt walkers will also wander among the visitors. Their silhouettes and sparkling costumes will add an extra touch of magic and poetry to the final evening of the season.

A firework display in the gardens of Vaux-le-Vicomte

The highlight of every Candlelit Evening, Vaux-le-Vicomte’s spectacular firework display will light up the night sky above the estate.

The display brings to life the famous festivities hosted by Nicolas Fouquet on 17 August 1661, through the letter written by Jean de La Fontaine to his friend Maucroix.

For the occasion, André Dussollier lends his voice to Jean de La Fontaine, transporting visitors more than 360 years back in time, to the heart of an evening that has since become legendary.

A spectacular moment to enjoy with the illuminated château before you and the gardens glowing in the candlelight.

Where to eat during the evening

To make the most of this final evening of the season, several food and drink options will be available throughout the evening, depending on what takes your fancy.

At the Guinguette, a chalet will offer a relaxed and convivial dining experience in the heart of the festive atmosphere. You can also take a break at Songe de Vaux, Relais de l’Écureuil or the Kiosque, and enjoy something to eat before continuing your exploration of the estate.

Fancy dining in the gardens? Picnic baskets are also available to pre-book through our ticketing service. To be enjoyed in the exceptional setting of the estate, they must be booked at least 48 hours before the evening.

For a more gastronomic experience, the Les Charmilles restaurant will welcome visitors overlooking the château and gardens. Please note that the restaurant is already fully booked for the evening of 26 September.

Whether you fancy dinner, a quick bite or simply a break during the evening, there will be plenty of opportunities to refuel before heading back to the festivities and enjoying the gardens illuminated by candlelight.
