Club Cars
No. Due to the high demand, club cars are rented on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance.
Yes. Club cars are available for rent on Saturday evenings during the Candlelit Evenings. Last rental: 6:30 PM.
Access
Yes.
A dedicated disabled entrance is located to the right of the main gates. A ramp and wheelchair-accessible restrooms are available.
Yes. Parking is free of charge, including for coaches. Please note the parking area is not supervised.
Yes, you can change the date of your ticket in your online customer account before your visit, depending on availability and ticket conditions. The exchange is possible for tickets of the same price, subject to availability.
No, bicycles are not allowed within the estate. We invite you to park them outside the entrance gates. Please note the parking area is not supervised.
Yes, from 14 March to 1 November 2026, dogs are allowed in the gardens, the shop and the catering areas, on weekdays only.
They are not permitted:
- At weekends and during events, inside the château, in the galleries and in the Carriage Museum
Rules to follow:
- Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
- A muzzle is mandatory for Category 1 and 2 dogs, in accordance with the law.
- Access to flower beds and temporary ribboned-off areas is prohibited.
- Swimming in the canals and fountains is strictly forbidden. (Water quality is not monitored; any swimming is the owner’s responsibility.)
- Please pick up after your dog.
- Owners are fully responsible for their animals (damage, bites, fights, drowning, etc.).
- In the event of an incident, please inform the estate staff immediately.
- Access to the estate requires a valid admission ticket.
No, all exits are final. Please make sure to bring all necessary belongings with you when you enter the estate.
Children at Vaux-le-Vicomte
Yes. Depending on the day of your visit, various activities are offered: activity booklets, treasure hunts, wooden games, etc.
No, costume rentals do not require advance booking.
Yes, except on very rare days of extremely high attendance.
Costumes are available from size 3 years to adult sizes.
For preservation reasons, strollers are not allowed inside the château. However, the rest of the estate is accessible to strollers.
A stroller parking area is available before entering the château.
Candlelit Evenings
From 5:30 PM, discover the château and gardens lit by over 2,000 candles, recreating the magical ambiance of the 17th century.
From 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Yes. You must reserve your time slot to access the château.
There may be a wait (approx. 20 minutes) on busy Saturdays. Peak season runs from mid-June to mid-September.
Please note there is no skip-the-line ticket, but purchasing your ticket in advance grants access to a dedicated queue.
No. You may only visit the château once, during the reserved time slot.
No. Candlelit Evenings take place only on Saturdays from May 24 to September 27.
Can we rent a château room for a wedding?
Candlelit Evenings are maintained in case of rain. Candles and fireworks are weather-dependent. The decision regarding the fireworks is made by the pyrotechnician at the last minute.
Weddings
Yes. Vaux-le-Vicomte regularly hosts weddings in the château’s salons or receptions in the outbuildings.
Patronage / Donations
Philanthropy is essential to preserve and promote this unique 17th-century heritage site. As a privately-owned monument with a public interest mission, Vaux-le-Vicomte relies on the generosity of individuals and companies to ensure its preservation and continued influence.
Vaux-le-Vicomte works closely with certified architects and public-interest associations to ensure proper allocation and transparency.
Donations may go through:
- Les Amis de Vaux-le-Vicomte (recognized public-interest association)
- La Demeure Historique (for restoration and accessibility projects)
As an individual:
- Become a Friend of Vaux-le-Vicomte
- Support a specific project as a major donor
- Volunteer to help with gardens, events, etc.
- Donate an artwork
- Join a targeted campaign (e.g., replant a tree)
As a company:
- Become a major or exclusive sponsor for a large-scale project
- Join the Circle of Corporate Sponsors
- Participate in skill-based or in-kind sponsorship (e.g., materials for the roof)
- Benefit from tax deductions and advantages at the château
Les Amis de Vaux-le-Vicomte: supports art acquisitions and programming
La Demeure Historique: supports major restoration and accessibility projects with signed agreements
There are two possible scenarios, depending on whether:
- You make a donation to the Association des Amis de Vaux-le-Vicomte: a tax receipt will be sent to you by the association within four weeks.
- You make a donation earmarked for a project for which we have signed an agreement with La Demeure Historique: a tax receipt will be issued to you by La Demeure Historique within four weeks.
Yes, within the three categories:
- Restoration or identical reconstruction
- Artwork acquisitions
- Site accessibility
Donations are linked to ongoing projects. Under certain specific conditions, you also have the option of choosing how your donation is allocated: in this case, please contact us.
For individuals:
- 66% of the donation is deductible from income tax, up to 20% of income.
For companies: - 60% of the donation is deductible from corporate tax, up to 0.5% of turnover, with 25% in benefits.
As a company:
- 60% of your donation is tax deductible, up to a limit of 0.5% of your turnover.
- You will receive benefits equivalent to 25% of the amount of your donation (use of facilities, visibility on site and in the estate’s media, special tours, etc.).
As an individual:
- Benefits related to the Friends of Vaux-le-Vicomte association
- Exclusive experiences for major donors
As a business:
- Brand exposure
- Privileged visits and event spaces
- Networking opportunities with other patrons

This is reflected in:

Gift (donation with deed): legally documented with specific conditions

Dining
Yes. Designated picnic areas are available on the estate. Note: exits are final, and no lockers are available.
You may also dine at our food outlets: the kiosk or Le Relais de l’Écureuil.
