On the occasion of International Dog Day on Wednesday, 26 August, Vaux-le-Vicomte is celebrating its four-legged visitors!

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., visitors accompanied by their dogs can enjoy a free professional portrait in the château’s gardens, either with their four-legged companion or with the whole family.

A wonderful opportunity to discover or rediscover Vaux-le-Vicomte with your dog and take home a special souvenir of your visit to one of France’s finest formal gardens.

Wednesday, 26 August: Strike a pose with your dog !

Is your dog part of the family? To celebrate International Dog Day, Vaux-le-Vicomte invites you to capture a special moment from your visit in an exceptional setting.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a professional photographer will be waiting in the gardens to take a free portrait of your dog. And because the best memories are often the ones we share, owners are of course welcome to join their four-legged companions in the photo if they wish.

With the château and André Le Nôtre’s iconic perspectives as a backdrop, this Vaux-le-Vicomte souvenir is sure to earn a special place in your photo album!

Discover Vaux-le-Vicomte with your dog

Since March 2026, dogs have been welcome in the gardens of Vaux-le-Vicomte from Monday to Friday, including public holidays, except on weekends and during special events.

With its 33 hectares of formal French gardens designed by André Le Nôtre, its grand perspectives, fountains and statues, the estate offers an exceptional setting for a stroll with your four-legged companion.

As you wander along the paths, take the time to admire the views of the château, explore the different levels of the gardens and enjoy a moment surrounded by nature, architecture and history.

A few rules for enjoying the gardens with your dog

To ensure an enjoyable visit for everyone, a few simple rules apply:

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead throughout the visit;
  • owners are asked to keep the gardens clean;
  • dogs are not allowed inside the château.

Dogs are welcome from Monday to Friday, including public holidays, except on weekends and during special events.
