On September 21 and 22, to honour the “Arts and entertainments” theme of the 2019 European Heritage days, discover the 7 Arts that made Vaux-le-Vicomte the wonderful 17th century palace it is today, through interactive activities.

Nicolas Fouquet, owner and creator of Vaux-le-Vicomte, was a refined benefactor for the most talented and famous artists of his time: Le Nôtre, Le Vau, Le Brun and also Poussin, Molière, La Fontaine, Lully, etc. All of them contributed to the estate’s splendour.

Learn more about architecture, literature, graphic arts, theatre, sculpture, music and cinema by solving 7 enigmas throughout a family track game!  Available in French and English.

Anne Allimant-Verdillon - Archéologue des jardins[Guided tour of the gardens]

Anne Allimant-Verdillon, an archaeologist specialized in historic gardens, will propose custom made tours about the Le Nôtre French formal garden and will reveal the results of her researches in the boulingrins parterre.

In French only – free – Duration: 45 minutes – 4 tours per day – booking at the Information Point on the spot the same day.

 

 

Tournage de cinéma - Vaux-le-Vicomte[Behind the scene guided tour]

From Marie-Antoinette to James Bond: Moonraker, without forgetting The Man in the Iron Mask and the Versailles series, Vaux-le-Vicomte has been the filming set for more than 70 big productions (nationals and internationals). This guided tour gives you a sneak peek of the backstages when a movie is filmed in the estate!

In French only – free – Duration: 1h – 4 tours per day – booking at the Information Point on the spot the same day.

Association AMATI - Concert-lecture à Vaux-le-Vicomte[Concert-reading]

An 8 musicians ensemble will present concerts-reading combining Jean de La Fontaine fables to baroque music!

In French only – free – Duration: 30 minutes – 3 concerts per day – no booking required.

 

 

Parcours sonore immersif à Vaux-le-Vicomte[New!]

Between theatre and cinema, the immersive surround-sound tour plunges the visitor into History with live action actors and sounds thanks to 3D sound headphones!

Available in French, English and German – free – Duration: 1h – available all day long, no booking required.

Le Styx, Rivière des Enfers - Vaux-le-Vicomte[Animation]

In the underground river which was diverted by Le Nôtre for the creation of the French gardens, this specially designed trip draws on La Fontaine’s text « The love of Cupid and Psyche ». Guided along on the Styx, the river of the classical underworld, equipped with front lamps and thigh boots, you will go through a series of tests of agility and logic… An unprecedented and intense adventure performed by professional actors!

In French only – 60€ per session – Duration: 1h – 8 sessions per day – booking required online.

Prices for the European Heritage Days (from 10 AM to 5 PM):

  • Under 18: free
  • Adults: 14,90€

Important: The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a private monument which doesn’t benefit from the same financial help as public monuments. The entrance ticket remains a paid service during European Heritage days, with a reduced price for adults and free for children!

We thank you for your understanding and for participating to the restoration of this living heritage!

 

Tickets for European Heritage Days don’t include the Candlelit Evening.

On Saturday, all tickets sold after 5 PM are Candlelit Evenings tickets (more information about prices).

On September 21 Candlelit Evening will take place as usual, without any program changes.

 

The team’s advice: buy your adult tickets in advance for a faster access! Other tickets (children and disabled persons) are to be taken directly at the entrance of the estate. European Heritage Days being rush days, it is possible you will have a waiting time at the ticket office.
