The picnic baskets will be offered again starting from April 30, 2024.
The word “picnic” comes from the terms “piquer,” synonymous with the verb “to peck” in the 17th century, and “nique,” which means “thing without value” in Old French. The expression “picnic” would therefore consist of nibbling on small things “here and there,” eating a little of each dish. It was truly in the 17th century that the practice of lunching on the grass spread, popularized by the aristocracy.
